"B" is for Bean Bag Toss

Sew: personalized bean bag toss

Make your own personalized bean bags with outdoor canvas fabric to complete your bean bag toss game.

I can't take credit for building the boards, my contractor friend's carpenter, Rafael, whipped them together with scraps.

But you can find lots of easy tutorials to build yourself like this one from Sew Woodsy and Beth's from Homes Stories A to Z.

How to make personalized bean bag toss:

1. Build the board and paint two coats Rustoleum indoor/outdoor semi gloss black:

2. Make a newspaper template for the letter and trace:

3. Paint inside the lines with gloss white enamel, it will take about 3 coats:

4. For the bean bags I used Beth's tutorial here as a guide for size.
Cut your canvas 7" squares:

5. For the letters print out a letter of desired size and cut out.
Place template on black canvas and trace:

6. Cut out letters.
To avoid using pins I secured the letters to the canvas square using double sided fusible iron on interfacing in small lengths:

7. Iron letter in place and then zig zag stitch to secure:

8. Place one letter square and one blank square right sides together and sew around the edge:

Be sure to leave an opening at the bottom to fill:

9. Fill your bags with 2 cups of popcorn kernals:

10. Pin the opening shut and straight stitch across to seal:
