"M" is for Mantel Artwork

Paint: diy mantel artwork

Happy Thanksgiving friends!  I thought it would be appropriate to share this mantel artwork today on Thanksgiving as we gather together to ask the Lord's blessing.  I made this piece for the priests' dining room at the church rectory and hung it above the mantel.

"W" is for Wall Bins

Build: diy wall bins

Back at it again today Ana White and I are sharing another handmade holiday gift build that's great for any age.  Ana has the plans for these perfect sized wall bins sure to be a much appreciated gift for anyone.

We're building our way towards the big day less than 5 weeks away!  Get started now on all your diy gift builds and your friends and family will be thanking you.

Who needs cute storage?  Everyone!  I built these wall bins using Ana's plans here for two tween nieces but the finish options are endless and they would be great for boys, girls, adults or even in a nursery.

"S" is for Snowglobe Ornament

DIY snowglobe ornament

Crafty friends this one is for you, today I'm sharing how to make snowglobe ornaments over at Pretty Handy Girl.

This version allows uses a clear plastic ornament and a wood base which gives you a surface to attach all the interior pieces as a scene but still keep the round snowglobe shape.  Definitely worth a visit to Brittany's diy blog to see just how you can make your own snowglobe ornaments.

"D" is for Deck The Halls DIY Style

Deck The Halls DIY Style

Sharing my diy decorated tree today complete with ornaments you can make yourself including a fast and easy tree stand cedar wood cover.

Of course I started with the tree and this one is a beauty.  Tree Classics sent me this lovely 7 foot pre-lit slim Christmas tree and I am smitten!  It arrives in 3 pieces, I set it up in minutes, plugged it in and magic.  But the best part here is the size - it's perfectly slender and fits this corner with room to spare (and plenty of space for gifts underneath!).

While the tree stand is functional and unobtrusive I wanted a DIY finishing touch and built this tree stand box cover from cedar boards.  The box is actually upside-down from what I originally planned because I failed to measure properly but now I'm liking how the inward taper makes the tree look taller - bonus!

Here's how to build the tree stand cover:

"S" is for Storage Hutch

Build: diy storage hutch with metal accents

Happy Friday friends.  Ana White and I are back with this week's handmade holiday gift build, it is the most functional and practical of all the builds but still has great style points too.

A storage hutch with magnetic metal strips and hardware cloth backing makes a great gift or the perfect place to set up advent countdown gifts!

Ana made the plans for this storage hutch very straightforward, no miter cuts, no fancy jigsaw work, just measure and assemble.  It's built almost entirely from 1x10s which gives lots of depth.

"W" is for Wood Stars

DIY wood stars

Make your own wood stars wall decor just in time for the holiday season, I'll show you how down below.

First let's start with the inspiration.  I know you saw these milled log stars over at Pottery Barn and you love them too!  But you don't want to pay $129 for the pair?
